Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce

Hillbilly Days

Dear Visitors and Friends,
Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Welcome to downtown Pikeville for our Annual Hillbilly Days celebration. To our community members and visitors, we hope you enjoy your time during the fun-filled festival.

The Hillbilly Days Festival brings over 100,000 people to our town, transforming it into a bustling place where guests can enjoy spectacular scenery and celebrate our unique Appalachian heritage and culture.

Our festival is unique in that the main purpose of the festivities is to raise money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Shriners Hospitals for Children is a one-of-a-kind international health care system of 22 hospi-tals dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs. Children up to the age of 18 with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate are eligible for admission and receive all care in a family-centered envi-ronment at no charge - regardless of financial need.

The festival offers everything from well-known carnival rides, to funnel cakes, to our traditional Appalachian crafts and music. The four stages across town offer free performances... everything from bluegrass to rock music. This year, and sponsored by Suddenlink will be Juggler, Matt Jergens, who will be doing free shows at the various stages each day and roaming the streets to entertain as well. Don’t forget to watch the Appa-lachian Wireless Fireworks show on Thursday night and visit all of the great crafters in the EQT Crafts Ba-zaar in the parking garage.

This year, the festival breaks all records again - with over 250 vendors who set-up shop on our downtown streets. Last year the Chamber was able to write a check for $83,000 to the Shriners Organization from our efforts with the festival. We hope that this year will break the record for the amount of money raised for the Shriners Organization.

Be sure to visit some of our regional businesses to see what they have to offer. Our hotels, restaurants, ser-vice stations, and retail stores would love to welcome you to our community and share with you our hospi-tality.

We thank you for attending the Hillbilly Days Festival and I hope you have a safe and fun visit to our town and our festival. We are proud of our beautiful home and we hope you enjoy your visit to our neck of the woods.

God Bless,
Jared Arnett
